Intervention in the Cohesion of Narrative Discourse in Pupils with Developmental Language Disorder

The main objective of this study was to verify the effectiveness an intervention program on cohesion in pupils with typical development and developmental language disorder. A total 99 5-year-old from schools island Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) participated. For narrative analysis, a story retelling task used, studying cohesive resources such as ellipsis, anaphora, possessives, connectors. organized at different levels practice involved teachers speech therapists. results indicated that diagnosed disorder initially presented worse performance than their peers development. Finally, two groups children who received showed significantly higher gains without treatment, medium or small effect sizes.
